(cue Conway Twitty voice)
Hello, blog. Nice to see you. It's been a long time, you're just as lovely as you used to be...
*ahem* Sorry about that.
So, I don't know if it is the power of suggestion, or positive thinking, or the fact that I published my intent, but I've been writing like mad. Thus preventing any posts here. (By the way, a blog post counts as a piece of writing--just sayin'.)
I've hit 130 pages. It's a huge accomplishment for me. This novel never made it past about page 70. But I've finally found a direction. I'm writing things that I didn't expect. I always had a very rough idea about the plot, but on three separate occasions I've written a scene that surprised me. I'm excited to sit down and write, because now I'm honestly not sure what is going to happen. It's liberating, in a way. I don't pull out the paper with expectations, I just write what I know and see where that takes me.
Of course, the frustrating part of all of this is that I have nearly 130 pages of dialogue. Maybe it is a screenplay after all? But, I know that at some point I have to go back and add some actual description--perhaps sacrifice some dialogue. I'm trying not to think about that too much--I'm afraid I'll stop writing new scenes.
Don't get me wrong, I still think it's going to turn out somewhat like a Jackie Collins novel. And yes, I am okay with this. I'm having fun with it.
Anyway, dear blog, I have missed you. I'll try to visit you more often--to fill you up with words so you don't fade away.
